Warped floorboards from the packaging

I bought a 2.20m floorboard (nat. oak, professional). After opening the first two packs (of seven) it turned out that all the floorboards are warped in an arch towards the surface layer. The maximum bend is around 0.5cm. Since being bought, the floorboards have been lying closed in the packs for over 3 days. Is a floorboard like this suitable for laying as a floating floor? I'm worried about them lifting up around the edges of the room.

This is normal. 0.5 cm is not a serious deflection. Lay it without worrying.

Cupping of floorboards during assembly

When laying a Barlinek floorboard (natural beech, cork underlay) as a floating floor, the first floorboard in a pack was often warped. The fitter (from the place of purchase) said that it would even out with use. The floor is now laid and there is a tapping sound where that floorboard is (even though I weighed it down with 50kg for a week). I have still to accept the work, hence my question. Is it OK and should I accept it in spite of the tapping?

There should be no problems if skirting floorboards are installed. I've never known this problem to last long. In fact I'd say it often disappears itself. I'd accept it.

Does Barlinek honour the guarantee if a Barlinek floorboard has been laid on concrete on foil and 2 mm foam?

Does Barlinek honour the guarantee if a Barlinek floorboard has been laid on concrete on foil and 2 mm foam?

No. There are three types of underlay in Barlinek S.A.'s offer: cork mat, EKO tiles and corrugated cardboard. Please use one of these. Apart from that, polyethylene foam (the white stuff) is a temporary product. It ages quickly and may lie under a floor for 7-10 years at most. Would somebody want their Barlinek board, which has a much longer lifespan, to lie without underlay after this time?

Knots in a class board

Is it acceptable for knots and discolorations to occur in floor panels such as beech antic professional and beech? I should point out that the product bought was top of the range.

A knot is not a fault, it is a feature of the material. They can even appear in the Exclusive version.

What does the guarantee on a layered floorboard cover?

What does the guarantee on a layered floorboard cover?

It guarantees that that floorboard will not stratify, crack or unseal. If, of course, it is properly laid and used. The guarantee, as is standard, does not cover the varnish, which is an element of everyday use and requires renewal.

Gaps immediately after laying

Three days ago, they laid me a layered floorboard gluing it to the floor. A crevice appeared in the middle of the board, which looks like a crack. What could have caused this? Faulty assembly, using the wrong adhesive? Or something completely different? In some places where the floorboards join there is a clear 2 mm high "mound", which makes a spirit level wobble. What causes this?

Cupping can have several causes: damp air, moisture of the base floor. It could also be a fault in assembly, or maybe the ordinary unpredictability of a natural material. It can happen that minor cracks appear at the manufacturing stage, and today this causes a fault there. Such a floorboard is removed by authorised fitters.
